Dear Friends,
Thanks for stopping by.  For those who would like to keep track of me through Facebook please come on over and sign on as a friend.  www.facebook.com/catfeather

For those of you who have asked, my brother Colin is continuing to adjust to a new "normal" following the death in early February, of his wife Val.  Thank you so much for your expressions of condolence and concern.

My historic music programs, "Freemen for Fremont," "The Civil War Era Music of Henry Clay Work" and "Historic Songs of Villains and Rogues" are being enthusiastically received by selected (and may I say discerning) Historical Societies and Libraries in Connecticut and Massachusetts.  Keep watching this page for updates on where and when.  And why not bug your local organizations to bring one of these fascinating programs to your 'burg?

My appearances in Chicago, at the Chicago Maritime Festival (February 27 & 28) were about as fine as I could have hoped.  It was an honor to be on the roster with musicians like John Roberts, Caryl P. Weiss, Tom Kastle, Chris Kastle and the 97th Regimental String Band.  I made some great new friends and hope very much to return to the Chicago area again.

Sarah has a business trip to Sacramento planned in late August.  We're hoping very much to combine that with a few bookings for me and turn it into a working holiday.  We'll be getting in touch with our west coast friends to see how the land lies and will keep you posted.

I continue to enjoy giving music lessons, and would be glad to pick up a few more students.  Guitar, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, anglo concertina, songwriting, etc.  I teach from home, will come out to you (as long as the distance isn't too great) or we can meet on neutral ground at The Music Bureau in Salem, CT.  Competitive rates and a gentle, positive approach to learning music.

We've found a publisher to print my book of cartoons.  The book will be called "Catnip Daydreams" and we hope to have it available in late spring or early summer this year.   You can find new a few previews on the Cartoons page.

The Dr. Ashbel Woodward House Museum (of which I happen to be the executive director--sound's impressive, don't it?) is eastern Connecticut's newest historic house museum. The museum will be open on the first Saturday of each month, from noon until 2pm.  You'll find it at 387 Route 32 in Franklin, CT.

That's All, Folks!
I think that's all the news for the moment.  Please spread the word about this website to friends (or enemies, as you see fit) and remember that I love hearing from you.  Email to rick@catfeather.com.  As always, Sarah says hello and sends her best.
Until later,
Rick Spencer
